Richard Spitz is Helen Spitz's ex-husband, and father of Adam, Sharon, and Josh.[1] He was a famous singer and musician, but as time went by, his career faded into obscurity. Despite this fact, there are those who still remember his glory days.
Richard is experienced in cooking, as Sharon mentioned once that he prefers to make his own brownies rather then buy them from the store.
According to Sharon, Alden Jones and Brock Leighton believe that he holds "the secret to rock and roll fame".
Trivia
- Just as Mr. and Mrs. Harper are fond of Sharon, Richard is fond of Nina—so, apparently, they are unaware Sharon and Nina are no longer friends.
- Richard has terrible punctuality--Adam says he keeps losing every watch he owns.
- Richard wears glasses, but why is unknown, as he does not appear to need them during everyday life. It is possible they are for reading only, which would suggest that he is farsighted.
- Sharon inherited her hair color from Richard, since they both have blond hair.
